Louisa Rotarians volunteer any amount of time they might have available to help Louisa's needy. Rotarians also donate financially when ever it is possible. Our Rotarians also help find sources of financial support -- whether it be Federal, State, or Local and frequently, private individuals who want to make a difference in young lives.
Louisa's Rotarians pay modest dues, about $4 per month to the parent organization, Rotary International. Rotary International conducts service projects all over the globe. One of the biggest service projects has been seeking to eliminate polio as a threat to young children. Rotary International received a $250,000,000 grant from Bill & Melinda Gates to combat polio around the world. Many physicians believe the scourge of polio will be eliminated in the under developed world in our lifetime.
As the oldest service club in the world, Rotary members have a huge range of opportunities for humanitarian service both locally and internationally. There are international programs to address health, poverty, illiteracy and the environment. With 32,000 clubs in more than 200 countries, Rotarians find that anywhere they go on the planet, they will be assured of a warm and friendly reception.
